ADVENTURE #1:
MARK TWAIN FILMS
Using the
Internet Movie Database, look through all the films that have been made based on Mark Twain's novels and stories.
1. How many films are listed?

2. Choose TWO of the Huck Finn- based films listed and write the following information on your paper:
- Film title
- Year made
- Director
-  Plot outline
- User rating
- Any awards won

3. Why do you think so many movies have been based on the works of Mark Twain?

ADVENTURE #2:
IS HUCK FINN A RACIST BOOK?

1. Go to the online dictionary. Look up the word "satire" and paraphrase its definition in your own words.
2. Read the article: Is Huck Finn a racist book?
3. Summarize why the critics feel the novel is racist.
3. What are the main points the author of this article makes to refute those charges?
4. What was Mark Twain's view of other races? Defend your answer with an example.
5. How does Huck Finn use satire to make a point?


ADVENTURE #3:
THE GREAT QUOTES OF MARK TWAIN
1. Go to the Quotable Mark Twain site.
2. Choose 5 quotes from the list.
3. Write down your choices and for each one list the following:
- Was the quote funny? Why or why not?
- Do you understand the quote? If not, what would you like to ask Twain about it?

What do you think was the context of the quote? (use your common sense and your creativity!)

HOW MANY MARK TWAIN SITES ARE THERE ANYWAY?

1. Go to your favorite search engine (a few are listed below to help you) and search for "Mark Twain."
Yahoo - Dogpile - Google
2. How many 'hits' does his name bring?
3. Visit a few of them randomly (don't stick to the first few in the list... scroll down to find something different).
4. Choose the one you find most interesting and write a brief summary of its contents and presentation. Make sure you tell me the URL of the site you choose.
